Chris Sutton thinks Beto will already be regretting joining Everton.

Speaking on the Football Daily Podcast, the former striker has claimed that Beto will be wondering why he signed for the Toffees following the club’s display against Arsenal.

The 25-year-old made his Premier League debut for Everton last time out as they drew 2-2 with Sheffield United and fans were left excited by his promising performance.

Beto saw a lot more of the ball at Bramall Lane compared to during the weekend’s clash with the Gunners, managing only 19 touches and not a single shot.

It didn’t appear to be Beto’s fault though, with the striker lacking any real service or chances to attack the ball.

While the Toffees were facing very tough opposition, Sutton thinks Beto could be questioning whether he made the right decision in moving to Goodison Park.

“The games I’ve seen against Fulham and Wolves, they did actually create a lot of opportunities,” he said. “Watching the game yesterday, you’re thinking ‘how on earth are they going to score?’

“But even though Arsenal are superior to Everton and I think we can understand the way Dyche set up, but they have got to carry a bit of a threat and they didn’t.

“I bet Beto is thinking ‘blimey, why on earth did I sign here?’ He was so isolated.”

Beto can’t perform without help from his Everton teammates

Beto’s talent is clearly there, but there is only so much he can do when the rest of the team isn’t performing and offering him the service he needs to put the ball in the back of the net. The same goes for Calvert-Lewin, who will be eager to impress since Beto’s arrival.

It surely can’t be long before Dyche considers playing the two forwards together as Beto is currently way too isolated up top on his own.
