Everton fans may well have come out of the January transfer market feeling incredibly underwhelmed by the lack of business done.

One signing came through the doors at Finch Farm with the transfer deadline falling on Monday night.

David Moyes may have also hoped for more, but there is fresh hope that the summer transfer window will offer more.

The Friedkins are set to hand Everton a healthy summer transfer budget with the fears of PSR breaches being put to bed.

And Everton will need a lot of summer additions with a host of players currently set to see their contracts expire on Merseyside.

But there are plans shaping up behind-the-scenes at Goodison Park which may well hint towards where Kevin Thelwell’s future lies.

Everton planning on big changes with Kevin Thelwell involved

There is an expectation Everton will move on from Thelwell with his contract also set to expire in the summer.

It is even believed the Friedkins have already begun discussing his potential successors.

However, according to iNews, Everton are looking to make some big changes behind-the-scenes which will be fronted by Thelwell.

The Toffees are keen for Thelwell to reposition the Everton academy as one of the best talent-producing outlets in the Premier League.

New scouts and youth coaches are expected to be hired at Finch Farm over the coming months as the The Friedkin Group aim for more talent to be produced on home soil.

Everton were beaten by Tottenham Hotspur to Mason Melia, which was one of the exciting young prospects the Toffees have identified recently.

With Thelwell leading the changes, perhaps this is a suggestion the 51-year-old may actually have a future on Merseyside.

Thelwell’s summer signing proving themselves under David Moyes

The January transfer window may have been a disappointing one for all on Merseyside with very little business done.

But it was not through a lack of trying with Thelwell and Moyes keen to sign Tom Fellows from West Brom.

However, a focus has been put on the upcoming summer transfer window where PSR will not limit Everton.

Thelwell’s time at the club may receive mixed reviews from the fans, but some of his summer signings are really coming good under Moyes.

Everton already want to sign Jesper Lindstrom permanently ahead of the summer.

And Jake O’Brien is really impressing in the right-back position, so perhaps a future at the club could be handed to Thelwell.
