Christmas may be a matter of hours away, but Everton fans were treated to an early present last week after the takeover was completed.
The January transfer window is just a matter of days away from opening which will come to the excitement of all Evertonians.
It has already been suggested The Friedkin Group could make a January surprise in the transfer window.
Sean Dyche’s side have shown some improvement on the pitch of late, but Everton are still lingering around the foot end of the table.
Additions in January could help pull the Toffees into a more promising position for the remainder of the campaign with one player already being eyed by the new owners.
Everton eyeing January move for Hakim Ziyech
The Friedkin Group have an eye on the summer transfer window as an opportunity to make big changes to their squad.
But according to the French outlet Jeunes Footeux, there could also be movement next month with Hakim Ziyech a player on their radar.
This comes amid interest from Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais who are also credited with an interest in the 31-year-old forward.
As well as the Toffees and the French side, there is interest coming from a number of Spanish sides, including:
- Villarreal
- Real Sociedad
- Girona
Having only taken over the club on Thursday, it is believed talks have already taken place at Everton over potentially bringing in the Moroccan winger.
The irony in this is that Ziyech rejected Everton last year when the Toffees made a loan approach during Farhad Moshiri’s reign.
Ziyech could offer Everton a Jack Harrison replacement
It has been a real struggle on the right wing for Everton, with Jack Harrison heavily criticised this season after rejoining on loan.
The Toffees are in desperate need of something different on the right side of their attack and Ziyech could provide them just that.
The Morocco manager Walid Regragui previously hailed Ziyech as ‘incredible’ with the forward a key part of his national league side.
‘He’s incredible. A lot of people talk about him as a difficult guy to manage but what I see is that, when you give him love and confidence, he will die for you. It is what I give him and he returns my confidence,’ he said.
Ziyech may not have hit his usual heights over in Turkey this season with Galatasaray, but he has experience in England with Chelsea.
A return of 27 goal contributions for the Londoners is certainly an improvement on what Harrison has returned the Toffees since joining.
