Everton picked up their third consecutive win on the weekend as they hammered Leicester City 4-0 at Goodison Park.

Many now feel Everton are pretty much safe from relegation as they’ve moved nine points clear of the bottom three.

So it’d take a major debacle from David Moyes’ men to put their Premier League status in jeopardy and with the addition of Carlos Alcaraz, they should have more than enough.

The Toffees dominated Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side from start to finish on Saturday and there were so many impressive performances.

However, only one made Alan Shearer’s Premier League Team of the Week.

Alan Shearer names Beto in Team of the Week

Everton had four or five players who were worthy of the Man of the Match award against Leicester.

Iliman Ndiaye was a chance magnet all game and finally rounded off his sensational performance with a goal right at the death.

James Garner has gone viral for his eye of needle pass for Beto’s second goal whilst James Tarkowski led a water-tight back four which kept another clean sheet.

But, rather surprisingly, Alan Shearer only named one Everton star in his Premier League Team of the Week.

Beto was the only one who got recognition as he wrote: “Produced two great finishes and took his opportunity following the injury to Dominic Calvert-Lewin with both hands.”

David Moyes so pleased that Beto took his chance

Speaking to BBC Sport after the game, Moyes admitted he was so pleased that Beto took his opportunity in the absence of the injured Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Armando Broja.

“I’m really pleased for Beto because I’m only just getting to know him,” Moyes explained.

“He has probably felt it has been difficult for him. We need someone to score goals – we are short on centre-forwards and losing Dom [Calvert-Lewin] was a big blow – so he came in and took his goals very well.”

Beto reportedly told Moyes he wanted to leave Everton ahead of transfer deadline day, but a move to Torino was blocked by the club.

Now it seems he’s at the beginning of his renaissance at Goodison Park.
