Everton fans were certainly made to wait on transfer deadline day, but they got their man in the end.

The Toffees may be disappointed to have only brought one in through the door with Carlos Alcaraz signing late in the day.

Alcaraz was set to sign his contract on the morning of deadline day, yet Everton were required to submit an extension to get the deal over the line.

Everton were looking to sign two players over the winter window but it was not to be in the end.

David Moyes may be slightly concerned over the depth of his squad given the injury issues which Everton have suffered this season.

But their new Argentine midfielder has already made a promise which will encourage the Everton fans.

Carlos Alcaraz shares Everton promise

Everton saw Alcaraz undergo his medical over the weekend in what panned out to be an extremely drawn out deal.

His signing was not announced until the early hours of the morning.

Speaking to the club’s media, Alcaraz told the fans that when they get to see him play, he wants to show them that he will give his all for the shirt.

“I am very happy to join Everton, such a great club, with a very good fanbase. I’m very happy and I’m looking forward to start training with my teammates and see the fans at the stadium,” he said.

“I am ready for any challenge with this beautiful club so that’s why I came and accepted the offer to keep fighting for my dreams.

“I want to tell the fans that whenever I wear this shirt, I will give my best, I will give everything I have to take Everton to the top, which is where they deserve to be.”

This is a move which was sought after by the 22-year-old with Alcaraz informing Flamengo he wanted to join Everton.

The midfielder will now make his return to Premier League football and will have a full week of training ahead of Everton’s next game.

David Moyes delighted by Everton’s Carlos Alcaraz signing

Throughout the window, Moyes expressed his desire to see Everton sign players to bolster his squad for the remaining months.

That may not quite have panned out the way he would have hoped, but Moyes was left delighted by the signing of Alcaraz.

“We’re happy Carlos has agreed to join us on loan until the end of the season,” he said.

“We’ve been looking to add players to the squad to give us more depth, particularly after the recent injuries we’ve picked up.”

Alcaraz has some Premier League experience from his time at Southampton before making the brief move to Flamengo last summer.

Although he has signed on loan, it appears Alcaraz could be set for a long future on Merseyside with Everton holding the option to buy.
