Everton completed the signing of Thierno Barry earlier this month.
Thierno Barry was on David Moyes’ radar for a while and finally, Everton managed to agree a £27m fee with Villarreal.
Barry had other clubs chasing him, however, Moyes was able to convince the Frenchman to make the switch to Merseyside.
“I had good conversations with the manager. He told me I have the quality to play in the Premier League,” Barry explained.
“He wants to do good work with me. He wants to help me on my road and I felt the sincerity with him so that’s why I chose to come here as well.”
Everton still want to sign another striker and they’re actually looking at one who’s very similar to Erling Haaland.

Everton target Mika Biereth very similar to Erling Haaland
Everton are exploring a deal to sign Mika Biereth after his sensational debut season for Monaco following a £12.9m transfer from Sturm Graz.
The former Arsenal youngster registered a whopping 35 goal involvements for the Ligue 1 outfit, who finished third.
- 44 appearances
- 27 goals
- 8 assists
Interestingly, according to FBref data, Biereth is of a very similar profile to Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.
The 22-year-old ranks in the top 15 per cent for progressive passes received per 90, evincing his willingness to run in behind.
Biereth also stands at 6ft 2 and is incredibly athletic, just like Haaland, so his style of play is ready-made for the Premier League.
Biereth says he’s inspired by Haaland
Speaking earlier this year, Biereth did admit he draws inspiration from Haaland.
“I consider myself an old school striker, I love scoring goals and finding the right position to be decisive,” Biereth explained.
“Even if I think you haven’t seen crazy goals in my highlights on YouTube. I try to be as consistent as possible, a goal is a goal, and that’s the most important thing.
“The striker who inspires me and resembles me the most? I would say Erling Haaland for whom I have great respect.
“He manages to focus on his positioning in the box and not only when he has the ball. When I was younger, I was a fan of Didier Drogba because of the intensity he put in physically, he stood out from the other strikers.”
If Everton do manage to sign Biereth, it’d certainly be an exciting addition and one that could provide Barry with serious competition.
The Denmark international wouldn’t want to sit on the bench.
