Everton are doing what they can to end this summer’s transfer window on a high.

Encouraging moves have been made in The Friedkin Group’s first summer market as the owners of Everton.

With just hours remaining until the window shuts, Everton are eyeing a move for Merlin Rohl from SC Freiburg.

The midfielder would mark signing number nine for Everton this summer, but there is still a desire to add even more before 7pm.

Moyes made his Everton transfer demands clear over the summer, with the 62-year-old wanting up to double digit arrivals.

Everton News’ transfer correspondent Graeme Bailey has now shared his latest understanding from Finch Farm over any other potential late arrivals.

Everton eyeing two extra signings after Merlin Rohl

Everton are expected to spend in the region of £17m on Rohl, with talks between SC Freiburg and the Blues ongoing.

However, Angus Kinnear has multiple plates spinning behind the scenes.

Speaking to Everton News, Bailey has shared what he has heard from his sources on Merseyside ahead of the 7pm cut off.

“Everton are locked in talks over Merlin Rohl – I am told the player has permission to talk terms, but still not done between the two clubs but it is progressing,” he said.

“Ideally, I am told, they want two more defenders – a full-back and central defender. There is some hope they get them both done.”

An Everton departure for Nathan Patterson is hanging by a thread, with Sevilla set to pull out of their agreement for the right-back.

A defender is high on Everton’s agenda today, following a number of injuries to already have hit Moyes’ options.

David Moyes did not want a summer window this busy

Everton have been praised for landing Jack Grealish, who is already excelling with four assists in just two Premier League starts.

This summer was always going to be a busy one for the Toffees given the number of players leaving at the end of their deals.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Moyes admitted too much work was needed at Everton in just one window.

“I don’t think you [ideally] want to bring in as many players as we have done,” Moyes told the media at Finch Farm.

“We always knew this was going to be a summer like that. We can’t fix everything in just one window. We can’t repair all the damage from past, not so much damage, but more so a lot of loans and players out of contract.”

A lot of players have come through the doors at Everton and there could be even more to follow in these final hours.
