Evertonians won’t want to recall what a Merseyside consortium proposed for Everton and Liverpool.
There have been some strange calls in Everton’s recent history, mostly stemming from the old ownership under Farhad Moshiri.
It’s even baffling when Moshiri wasn’t in meetings for Everton, clearly not taking responsibility for his misfortunes at the club.
Adding to this, the older owner tried to sign former players to sell them on again, as Antonee Robinson revealed Everton wanted him in 2020.
But even pre-Moshiri, some plans would’ve caused complete and utter outrage.

The stadium proposal put forward to Everton and Liverpool in 2010
In 2010, it seemed like both Merseyside clubs were at the top of the game as David Moyes, in his first spell, had Everton competing for Champions League football.
Of course, nowadays, both clubs find themselves at opposite ends of the table, but that doesn’t stop their rivalry looming larger than ever.
This was proven after Abdoulaye Doucoure mocked Liverpool fans in Everton’s draw in February.
But what a consortium had planned in 2010 would’ve made Merseyside a warfield, and it wouldn’t have gone down well at all.
The Merseyside consortium proposed the idea of a strange ‘Siamese stadium’ to unite the location of both rivals in 2010.
Ultimately, this meant the two clubs would maintain separate stadiums but would join the two buildings via a ‘central spine’.
Remarkably, the plan was to save money on construction completing ignoring the fact both fanbases would’ve been disgusted at the decision.
Luckily, the plan never came to fruition as you can imagine the bafflement at the idea, and the hope will be that the Friedkin Group never even think of something so preposterous.

Everton fans will be sad at Goodison exit but will love new stadium after 2010 plans
No doubt when the time comes, Toffees fans will be devastated at the end of Goodison Park but will be extremely relieved at their plans now as opposed to the absurd proposal in 2010.
There are only five more games left at The Grand Old Lady, and Moyes will want to give the great stadium five excellent showings.
Despite the sadness, Bramley Moore-Dock has been hailed as ‘gorgeous’, and that’s certainly one word for it.
With the ‘Siamese stadium’ being considered in 2010, fans will count their blessings that they’ve now been awarded with a state of the art complex, and you’d be sure Liverpool fans share the same stance.
