‘They will find a way’: Chris Sutton predicts who will win this weekend – Everton or Bournemouth

Chris Sutton has tipped Everton to ‘stop the rot’ as they host Bournemouth this weekend.

Writing in his BBC Sport predictions, the pundit has claimed the Toffees could finally turn around their horrific form at Goodison Park.

Everton are set for their second consecutive match on home soil as they face the Cherries, a week after their hugely disappointing defeat to Luton Town.

Sean Dyche’s side had looked to have kickstart their season with back-to-back victories over Brentford and Aston Villa, however the mood was brought crashing back down when they found themselves 2-0 down in half an hour against the Hatters.

Everton have now lost seven of their past eight matches at Goodison Park and are in desperate need of the three points, while Bournemouth are in an even worse situation.

Andoni Iraola is still searching for his first win since arriving at the club in the summer, with the Cherries managing only three draws and four defeats so far. However, the south coast outfit have had a much harder opening set of fixtures – facing West Ham, Liverpool, Tottenham, Brentford, Chelsea, Brighton and Arsenal.

Both sides will see the game as a winnable fixture and Sutton has tipped a narrow win for Dyche’s side, despite Everton losing four of their last five meetings.

“I think Bournemouth are in a bit of bother this season. They’ve been ahead in three games without seeing any of them out, and they are leaking a lot of goals,” Sutton said.

Everton are obviously struggling too, and last weekend’s home defeat by Luton was a big setback for them, but I think we will see a response here.

“Sean Dyche’s side will be nervous after four straight defeats at Goodison Park so I am not sure they will find their shooting boots, but I think they will find a way to stop the rot.”

Last time the two teams met…

Sutton rounded off his prediction with a 1-0 scoreline, which would replicate the result the last time the two teams met on the final day of the 2022-23 campaign.

A goal from Abdoulaye Doucoure proved to be the difference on Merseyside, keeping Everton in the Premier League for a further year.

The Toffees will be hoping to make it two wins in two against the Cherries, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin is aiming for four goals in as many games.

This is definitely a match that Everton should be winning and they could definitely win it comfortably too. Another defeat on home turf and Dyche’s future has to seriously considered.
