Thierno Barry has been one of Everton’s standout performers over the last month.

Thierno Barry had to wait until December to score his first goal for Everton, but since then, he’s gone on a great run.

Barry’s goal against Leeds United at the weekend was his fourth in his last five games, and David Moyes has noticed a lift in his confidence around Finch Farm.

How impressed were you with Thierno Barry vs Leeds United? 👏

“He was shouting on the training pitch today, which is something that you might say would be normal, but it’s not been normal for Thierno,” the Scotsman admitted.

So, considering how well the young Frenchman has been doing lately, he may be feeling a bit confused at the latest transfer news coming out of Everton.

Thierno Barry must be feeling confused at the Jhon Duran transfer rumour

It has just emerged that Everton are exploring a deal to sign Jhon Duran before the transfer deadline on February 3rd.

Duran is currently on loan at Fenerbahce from Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, who paid £64m for his signature last year.

Everton want Jhon Duran… would he be an upgrade on Thierno Barry? 👀

As such, any deal for the 22-year-old would require a significant amount of finances, which doesn’t make for good reading from Barry’s perspective.

The French forward will be well aware that if Duran joins, his game time will more than likely decrease, as the new striker probably won’t join on the basis of being second choice.

Barry may end up becoming a rotational option once again, which didn’t work well for him earlier in the season with Beto.

Everton must back Thierno Barry and pull the plug on Jhon Duran deal

If Everton were to sign a striker in the remaining six days of the window, it should only be as a back-up to Barry.

The 23-year-old has proved his worth in recent weeks and should retain his spot as the number nine for the rest of the season.

If you could bring back Richarlison or Lukaku, who would you go for? 👀

Barry has already shown that with a rhythm of games, he can be prolific in the Premier League and will only get better, too.

A more experienced striker who can be a mentor to Barry would be a much better recruit, rather than signing Duran.

A telling week lies ahead, leading up to the transfer deadline.
