Everton are being linked with a move to sign Juventus striker Jonathan David.

David Moyes remains in the market for a centre-forward as Thierno Barry and Beto clearly aren’t up to the level required, certainly for a side aiming to be in Europe.

As such, it’s now being reported by TEAMtalk that Everton have been in discussions with David’s representatives over a potential summer transfer.

He’s only scored 7 goals for Juventus this season… thoughts? 😬

David, who has endured a tough time at Juventus this term, will be allowed to leave Turin at the end of the season, if a suitable replacement is found.

So, it seems there is serious legs to this deal, and with that said, Thierry Henry has already told Everton what to expect from the Canada international.

Thierry Henry says Everton target Jonathan David loves to run in behind

Speaking back in 2022, Henry explained that David is not the type of striker to drop in and link the play.

The 26-year-old’s sole focus is to exploit space in behind using his explosive pace.

“When you have a player like Jonathan David, who runs the way he does, in behind,” Henry pointed out.

“His directness. Don’t ask him to come to play or assist because he has none this season.

“If he sees the centre-back dropping, then he will go in behind. But as soon as he sees there is a gap, he will run and he is also pretty strong too and he loves contacts.”

That type of number nine would certainly suit the Premier League, as the division continues to move away from a possession-based model and more towards athleticism and dynamism.

David would be a significant upgrade on Barry and Beto, as evinced by his prolific goal record below.

He’s also netted 37 times in 73 appearances for Canada, making him the country’s all-time top scorer, which is pretty remarkable given his age.
