Everton are in the market for a midfielder this summer transfer window.

David Moyes has already lost Abdoulaye Doucoure and Orel Mangala, so there is a pressing need to bolster the midfield ranks.

Everton are interested in signing Gustavo Hamer, with the Sheffield United playmaker already giving the green light to a move.

Habib Diarra was also on Moyes’ radar, however, the Senegal international has now been snapped up by newly-promoted Sunderland.

Now, there is a fresh Everton transfer rumour emerging, and it’s fair to say fans are really excited about it.

Everton fans so excited after hearing who David Moyes wants to sign

Everton are reportedly showing an interest in Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz and fans have been reacting to that rumour on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Would be a game changer if he’s the same player as he was at Villa,” @ToffeeDaft posted.

@Everton__1234 explained: “A) he’s the sort of player we should be spending decent money on. B) A RIGHT-FOOTED SET PIECE TAKER.”

“Yes, yes, and yes again,” @TacticallyMatt commented.

“This would be a cracking signing, Premier League proven and instantly improves us,” @Richlloyd1984 added.

“Ohh now we are talking,” @bluetom_tom said.

@efcforeever admitted: “Would love this.”

Douglas Luiz’s impressive underlying data

Juventus signed Luiz last summer for around £42m, however, he’s not managed to cement a spot in the starting line-up.

Despite that, in the 27 appearances he’s made for the Turin titans, his underlying data is mightily impressive.

According to FBref, the Brazil international ranks in the top five per cent for progressive take-ons per 90 compared to his positional peers across Europe.

The 27-year-old also sits in the top seven per cent for shot-creating actions, evincing his elite playmaking abilities.

So, if Everton do manage to land his signature, it’d be a real coup.
