Everton were unable to make a splash in the first instalment of the summer transfer window.

David Moyes has collected his OBE on Wednesday but work on Merseyside will still be going on to strengthen the squad.

A strong end to the season at Everton will have the Toffees looking upwards ahead of the new campaign.

The Friedkins are ready to back Everton financially, but it is proving a difficult market to deal in with clubs around the Premier League looking for upgrades.

Everton have already experienced Chelsea gazump them in the race to sign Liam Delap this summer with the lure of Champions League football proving decisive.

However, Everton are keen to add a new full-back this summer with the likes of Ashley Young departing the club.

One of their targets is now receiving interest from other Premier League sides, but the Blues could hold an advantage in the race to sign him.

Wolves set to rival Everton for Vladimir Coufal

Since arriving back in Merseyside in January, Moyes has been keen to sign a new full-back for Everton.

His options have been extremely limited with ageing players at right-back and only Vitaliy Mykolenko at left-back.

Everton have been keen to sign Vladimir Coufal who is set to become a free agent from West Ham, but Pete O’Rourke has claimed there are more clubs showing an interest.

According to the journalist, Everton are seeing competition emerge from both Fulham and Wolverhampton Wanderers for the Czech international.

Coufal is keen to remain in England with his son having recently signed for the West Ham academy.

But with no new deal on the table in east London, the 32-year-old is attracting interest from clubs across the Premier League.

Like plenty of clubs across the league, Everton have lost players as free agents this summer, but now it could be their turn to gain from the free agency market.

David Moyes will provide Everton major Coufal advantage

The relationship between Moyes and Coufal is no secret with the 62-year-old manager the one to bring him to England.

Coufal has played a considerable amount of his career in England under Moyes and this could hand the Toffees an advantage in the race to sign him.

Perhaps the biggest concern would be whether Everton could offer him regular first-team minutes with Jake O’Brien impressing Moyes so much this year.

More frequent minutes could be on offer at the likes of Wolves and Fulham could allow him to remain in London.

A big decision awaits the Czech international – who Moyes hailed ‘brilliant’ – as he will soon have free choice over who he next plays for.
