Everton are expected to sign a new centre-forward this summer transfer window.

David Moyes was ‘fixated’ on signing a striker in January, but the Everton manager was forced to change his plans after Jack Grealish’s injury.

The Toffees have been looking at Chelsea’s Liam Delap, and Atletico Madrid’s Alexander Sorloth has been linked too.

AZ Alkmaar’s prolific frontman Troy Parrott is another one on Everton’s radar, with scouts watching him at different stages this season.

That said, Parrott’s potential transfer to Merseyside may have just moved a step closer after his recent admission.

Everton target Troy Parrott admits he wants to leave AZ Alkmaar

It’s been reported that Everton have an advantage in the race to sign Parrott over the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United.

That’s because the Irishman grew up as a Toffees supporter, so if they did make an approach to sign him, the deal could move at a real pace.

Parrott has also just come out and admitted that he wants to leave Alkmaar to play at a higher level, so clearly he expects to be on the move this summer.

“If this was the last match, I have had the best two years of my life,” the 24-year-old stated.

“The club ensured that I could make progress. It is important for me to take the next step in my career and to play at the highest level.”

Parrott netted 31 goals whilst laying on 13 assists for the Dutch outfit this season, taking his total goal contributions to a whopping 44.

He’s also been prolific for the Republic of Ireland, scoring six goals in his last four outings, which is pretty remarkable.

Clearly, if Everton can agree a deal, there would be a lot of excitement around Parrott’s arrival on Merseyside.
