Two key reasons why the Friedkins may consider David Moyes’ Everton future

Make no mistake about it, David Moyes has done a fantastic job since returning to Everton.

But, that doesn’t necessarily mean Everton’s ambitious owners, the Friedkin Group, won’t consider his future.

David Moyes only has one year remaining on his contract, so the American investors do have a big decision to make.

No win in any of Everton’s last five games… what would you say to David Moyes? 🫣

They either hand Moyes a new deal, or they must make the controversial decision to replace him before shelling out in excess of £100m on new signings this summer.

What they can’t do is leave it as it is and allow the Scotsman to sign five or six expensive players before bringing in a new manager in 12 months’ time; that wouldn’t be wise.

With that said, here are two key reasons why the Everton owners may consider Moyes’ future at the end of the season.

The Friedkins want to recruit young talent

It was reported last year that the Friedkin Group wanted to recruit young and exciting players who had big potential.

Borussia Dortmund have had great success with that transfer strategy, and the Everton owners wanted to deploy a similar model on Merseyside.

Will TFG have to move away from Moyes to achieve their recruitment model? 😬

Dan Friedkin.

That’s why the likes of Tyler Dibling and Adam Aznou were brought in for big fees, with the hope that Moyes would develop them into superstars.

However, it has become very apparent that the Toffees manager wants to rely on the old guard and places much more emphasis on experience.

The aforementioned youngsters have barely had a kick this season, so the Friedkins may seriously consider bringing in a new manager with a better track record of improving young talent.

There is a unique opportunity to upgrade on David Moyes

The other key reason why Moyes’ future may be under threat is due to there being a unique opportunity to recruit a top-class Premier League manager.

Andoni Iraola has already announced that he will be leaving Bournemouth at the end of the season, so he will be free to talk to clubs soon.

David Moyes and Andoni Iraola.

Many Toffees fans have urged the club to speak to Iraola, as they believe he would be an upgrade on Moyes.

The Spaniard plays a very attractive brand of football and has brought through several young players, such as Eli Junior Kroupi, Alex Scott and Dean Huijsen, to name only a few.

For that reason, Iraola may be the only manager whom the Friedkins would seriously consider swapping Moyes for.

These types of opportunities don’t come around very often.
