Tyler Dibling has taken manager’s advice after rejecting Tottenham for Everton

Everton won the race to sign Tyler Dibling in the summer, besting fellow Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur to get the deal over the line.

David Moyes had been very keen to sign a winger in the summer window, and got his man in Dibling in a £42m deal.

It’s certainly a figure that will raise eyebrows for an unproven 19-year-old, but Dibling was priced at £100 million for a reason.

His move solves the issue of Moyes’ right-winger spot, as there was even a chance Everton would return for Jack Harrison if they failed to sign Dibling.

Thankfully for the Everton fans, this wasn’t the case, and some advice was given to the youngster, which might have impacted his decision ahead of the summer.

What former Southampton boss Ivan Juric said about Everton-bound Tyler Dibling

The winger only had one full season in the Saints’ first team, but learned his trade under former boss Ivan Juric.

Of course, it was a dismal season for Southampton, but that doesn’t mean that Juric didn’t offer the exciting talent the right pathway.

Speaking during April about Dibling in a press conference, the Croatian said: “I work a lot with the young players, and my vision of the young players is that they have to choose what is best for them.

“What is best for them is playing games. I had lots of examples where my young players chose the wrong team, and they didn’t play, and they started to lose themselves,” he added.

“I think what is best for him, and for everybody, is to choose the team, stay here, or choose the team where he can play 30 games, 35 games.”

Now he is set to join Everton, the young winger seems to have taken Juric’s advice, considering Tottenham’s interest in Dibling as well.

As mentioned by the former Saints boss, a young player like Dibling needs game time to shine.

By rejecting Tottenham, he’s avoided the possible competition with their new signing, Mohammed Kudus, who is also occupied on the right wing, with Wilson Odobert also a threat.

Whereas at Everton, there is hardly anyone staking a claim to have a place on that right-hand side, with it looking like the Toffees’ new man has the platform to thrive.

The youngster will be the star in Everton’s team, and there aren’t many better managers than Moyes to nurture the prospect.

There is no doubt the winger will get 30 games under his belt this season if he can stay fit, and after Dibling has got Paul Scholes’ approval, it’s clear the 19-year-old has got every chance to succeed at Everton.
