Everton will be delighted that Tyler Dibling’s move is almost over the line this transfer window.
It’s been a long, old saga with Southampton, but it looks as though The Friedkin Group have finally got their man.
A £42 million deal is on the expensive side, but it’s worth it for Dibling who could be the next ‘Paul Gascoigne’.
Dibling told his close friends he wanted Everton, and the 19-year-old has seemed set on his decision.
As the highest fee of the 2025/26 window has been made by Everton, this is where he ranks in the all-time list.

Tyler Dibling set to become Everton’s second most expensive transfer of all-time
With the exciting youngster finally making his return to the Premier League, David Moyes will be thrilled that his right-winger dilemma has been solved.
This has now ticked off one of three of Everton’s transfer priorities in the closing days of the window.
As mentioned, it’s not a cheap deal, but hopefully the winger makes the instant impact, and you’d like to think so, as he ranks second in terms of the Toffees’ most expensive signings of all-time.
| Gylfi Sigurdsson | £45 million |
| Tyler Dibling | £42 million* |
| Richarlison | £35 million |
| Amadou Onana | £30 million |
| Romelu Lukaku | £28 million |
Dibling joins a list with some names that have achieved great things on the Blue side of Merseyside, as Richarlison and Romelu Lukaku aren’t bad company.
The 19-year-old just missed out on the record by £3 million, but that is all thanks to The Friedkins’ bargaining.

The Friedkin Group dropped Tyler Dibling’s Everton price from £50 million
In the end, it’s the Blues who will hopefully pay off from Dibling’s success, as although he is still a raw talent, he showed exciting glimpses in his first season as a key player.
The deal still looks like a risk, but after Southampton demanded £50 million for Dibling, the hierarchy have done very well to cut off £8 million.
Of course, if that figure remained, we’d be standing here today saying that the winger is the most expensive signing of all time, but The Friedkins have done exceptionally to finally give in to the Saints’ hardball negotiating.
Southampton continued to lower Dibling’s asking price, and you have to say that Angus Kinnear and co deserve a pat on the back for making it happen.
