Tyler Dibling striker plan makes no sense, but it may suit another Everton player

It’ll be fascinating to see what happens with Tyler Dibling this summer.

The 2025/26 season did not go as he or anyone associated with Everton would have hoped.

Bought for £40 million last summer, big things were expected of the 20-year-old.

If you were Angus Kinnear who would you be going all out for this summer? 💰

But after some early involvement, Tyler Dibling really faded in the second half of the season with David Moyes trusting more experienced players over him on a regular basis.

It has been claimed that Everton have looked into converting Dibling to a striker.

But seemingly this is a non-starter, with Dibling said to want to ‘take his chances’ to try and play as a winger.

But there is one player at Everton who’d make a lot more sense to transition to a striker.

Tyrique George should be the first winger converted to a striker, not Dibling

Dibling converting to a striker is probably not something many fans have even considered for a second.

He is not fast, doesn’t make runs off defenders to get in on goal and is also not a target man.

Someone who is fast though, is Tyrique George.

Now unlike Dibling, George has actually played as a striker before when in the youth ranks at Chelsea.

Granted, he doesn’t have heaps of experience in the position. But he has a much better starting basis than Dibling to make the conversion. He also has attributes that would make him a more natural fit.

Last season, we saw George use his pace to great effect from wide positions. One of of his more notable games came against Brentford, when he had Michael Kayode looking uncomfortable. The Italian had previously been very solid in the game.

If Moyes is looking for an internal striker option, then George would make the most sense having had a little bit of experience already and having impressive pace that can be used to run in behind.

Everton still deciding on Tyrique George

Of course, there is a world in which George isn’t actually an Everton player next season.

The winger only came in on loan from Chelsea, and Everton are reportedly still weighing up whether to sign him permanently.

George’s buy option is thought to be around £25 million, and Everton are possibly trying to sign him for less.

Plenty of fans would love to see him return, but unfortunately his lack of use by the manager does put his permanent move into jeopardy.
