Ashley Young and son Tyler Young could make history tonight when Everton face Peterborough United in the FA Cup.
Everton face Peterborough United in the FA Cup at Goodison Park tonight as Sean Dyche has reached the point of must-win status.
Everton held a late health and safety meeting at 1pm to assess whether the game will be on and has now been confirmed to go ahead.
Dyche’s future is supported by the Friedkins despite claims he will be sacked in the coming weeks but no doubt he’ll want to have a convincing performance against the League One side.
Another storyline that has arisen in the encounter is Ashley Young facing his 18-year-old son, Tyler, as the young prospect is a part of Darren Ferguson’s Peterborough squad.
The duo could become the first father and son to play against each other in the FA Cup as Tyler is planning on doing a specific thing in the clash.

Tyler Young could ‘nutmeg’ Ashley Young in Everton’s FA Cup clash
Tyler Young has only made one appearance for Peterborough so far in his early career, but the hope is that he’ll feature in the squad.
Speaking to the One Show, the father-son duo sat down for a preview ahead of the game as Tyler made a bold claim regarding his dad.
“I’ve always had a number one supporter, and that’s my mum and she says she’ll always be on my side so I’m already one up on dad,” Tyler said.
“If I was to nutmeg my dad, I don’t think he would let me back in the house!”
“A lot of the family is rooting for Tyler and Peterborough and I don’t think many are going to be rooting for me, it’s just how it is,” Young responded.
“The main thing is that Tyler plays well, it’s a big stage for him, but for me to play well and progress into the next round.”
Ashley Young has been a rare bright spark at Everton
Despite Everton’s struggles this season, Young has somewhat had a positive campaign this season.
| Ashley Young’s statistics in the Premier League this season (ranked at Everton) | |
| Appearances | 16 |
| Assists | 3 (1st) |
| Chances created | 17 (2nd) |
| Successful tackles per 90 | 1.6 (2nd) |
| Clean sheets | 7 |
The 39-year-old has been on good form but it won’t account for how Everton play as they look to avoid an upset against Peterborough.
The full-back has already been left red-faced this season after Young predicted Dominic Calvert-Lewin to win the Golden Boot and embarrassment could be added further on Thursday night.
Not only would Everton put to bed their FA Cup run and it would be a huge upset, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if Dyche lost his job at Everton.
Although a winnable clash, Young shouldn’t be too confident after Everton’s misery, and that could only grow by losing to his son in the FA Cup.
