Everton fans are excited to watch Carlos Alcaraz in action after he signed for the club on transfer deadline day.
In the end, it was a quiet day for the club, despite a lot of noise in the days leading up to the final day.
Everton agreed a deal to sign Alcaraz and it was a move that was always expected to go through.
Although it did take more time than expected in the end, with Everton actually submitting a deal sheet and announcing the move after the deadline.
But Alcaraz signed, and the hope is that he will be able to hit the ground running.
Alcaraz has promised Everton fans he’ll give his all, and it’s going to be interesting to see where David Moyes uses him.

Everton admire Carlos Alcaraz’s flexibility

This morning, The Athletic have run an interesting feature piece about Everton’s newest signing Alcaraz.
The Argentine has played in England before with Southampton, but there is a lot that fans still don’t know about him.
According to The Athletic, one thing that greatly appealed to Everton about Alcaraz is his flexibility.
He’s a player capable of operating in a few different midfield roles, but it’s suggested that we will mostly be seeing Alcaraz in either an eight or 10 position.
It’s stated that the ‘likeliest scenario’ is that we see Alcaraz playing as a 10, which is where Abdoulaye Doucoure has been playing in the absence of the injured Dwight McNeil.
The suggestion is that Alcaraz is set to provide an extra option alongside Doucoure as someone to play behind the striker.
Why Carlos Alcaraz struggled at Flamengo
All eyes will be on Alcaraz in the coming games to see what kind of an impact he can make for Everton.
It will be really interesting to see where he mostly plays, with many not particularly in favour of Doucoure in the 10 role.
Some have wondered if Alcaraz is a bit of a risky signing given he has left Flamengo so soon after joining them.
Alcaraz joined Flamengo in the summer of 2024, but only made 19 appearances for them before making his loan move to Goodison Park.
But The Athletic say in their piece about him that there was a common view about why Alcaraz struggled to shine.
And that is that Alcaraz was simply ‘not overly suited to Flamengo’s style’. Flamengo largely play a patient, possession game, but Alcaraz is said to be a player who ‘thrives in transition and is best playing at a high tempo’, which may well help him to be successful under Moyes at Everton.
Since coming in Moyes has certainly helped Everton to be better on the transition, and is a coach who is big on high tempo and pressing, potentially making Everton and Alcaraz a match made in heaven.
