Whether Everton’s owners will move on from David Moyes remains the question on the lips of supporters this summer.
There is no getting away from just how poorly Everton ended their campaign, with no victory on the board since March.
Moyes certainly has a big involvement in the poor run of form on Merseyside following through some of the ways in which he has mismanaged the squad available to him.
The Bournemouth manager has announced he’s leaving… 🤔
Andoni Iraola is a manager who Everton fans want to replace Moyes, and something he has said in recent years make him the perfect upgrade on the 63-year-old.

Andoni Iraola comment makes him Everton’s perfect David Moyes upgrade
Although Everton have backed Moyes during the final weeks of the 2025/26 campaign, he manner of Everton’s end to the campaign should at least make The Friedkin Group consider a change.
Unfortunately for the Blues, Iraola is a manager in demand, with the likes of AC Milan and Liverpool both keen to secure his services.
In an interview with The Guardian back in 2024, Iraola shared exactly how he likes his side to play football, and it is a complete contrast to Moyes’ Everton.
“We had to reinforce our message, take even more risks, play with an even higher line because otherwise we couldn’t really make a difference,” he said.
Moyes outers… is there anything he can do to change your mind? 🤔
“When I’m on the bench and everyone is in a low block, really compact, 10 players behind the ball, I don’t feel very comfortable.”
In the final game of the season, Everton sat back against Tottenham Hotspur and looked like a side who were firmly on the beach.
Everton, facing a Spurs side who had not won a Premier League game at home since December, took until the final minutes to register a shot on target.
It was a timid display from the Toffees, which completely contrasts to what Iraola’s Bournemouth have shown this season.
Angus Kinnear is a big fan of Iraola, having previously tried to appoint him during his time at Leeds United.
Everton ended the 2025/26 campaign with an average possession of just 43.7%, which only highlights the style of play Moyes has implemented on the side.
| Ranking | Team | Possession (%) |
| 17 | Everton | 43.7 |
| 18 | West Ham | 42.6 |
| 19 | Wolves | 42.6 |
| 20 | Burnley | 42.3 |
In contrast, Bournemouth registered the season with over 50% possession, with the Cherries (526) attempting over 100 more shots than Everton (422).
Everton supporters ultimately want to win games, but they also want to see their side play a more expansive brand of football.
Although Moyes has certainly provided stability there will remain a feeling among many supporters that the club will not make the next step forward until a significant change is made.
