Everton’s CEO Angus Kinnear wrote to Everton supporters last week.
Angus Kinnear gave his verdict on the season, admitting that he is ‘happily dissatisfied’ as Everton were in a European race.
Ultimately, it’s been a really poor end to the campaign, and that’s brought a lot of scrutiny on David Moyes.
How do you even sum that up? 😡
Everton end their home campaign on a whimper 😫
Fans have been frustrated with Moyes’ team selections, as he often sticks with the old guard every week, with many of the newer recruits and young players left on the bench.
With that said, we’ve revisited some quotes from Kinnear from September 2025, which now look very silly.

Angus Kinnear previously said David Moyes will ‘champion young talent’
We looked back on Kinnear’s programme notes from last September, and it’s pretty remarkable to see how wrong he has been.
The Toffees chief said Moyes was going to accelerate the development of the young talent and ‘champion’ the likes of Tyler Dibling and Adam Aznou.
It’s been anything but that in truth.
“Charly Alcaraz, Thierno Barry, Adam Aznou, Mark Travers, Tyler Dibling and Merlin Röhl are some of the most exciting young talents in European football, with great potential for the future,” Kinnear stated.
What would you say to Angus Kinnear after THAT loss to Sunderland? 😤
Something has to change… 😭
“They will need time and our patience to settle and adapt to the rigours of the Premier League, but I have no doubt in their ability to make a positive contribution this season, and that their contribution will only grow over time.
“Their transition will be accelerated under the guidance of David Moyes. His desire to champion young talent remains as strong as ever.
“David was central to all our recruitment efforts. The first into Finch Farm each morning and the last to leave at night, he meticulously assessed every player proposal, data assessment and video review.”
Interestingly, the last sentence dispels any doubts that Moyes wasn’t responsible for the Dibling and Aznou signings.
The Scotsman spent a combined £50m on the young duo, and they’ve started just four Premier League games between them.
In fact, Aznou is still awaiting his league debut, which is pretty incredible considering how well he performed in LaLiga last term.
