This awful stat shows why Everton must seriously consider replacing David Moyes

Everton suffered a damaging 3-1 defeat to Sunderland at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

That’s now six games without a win for Everton at such a crucial stage of the season, with European football now out of reach.

David Moyes was totally outclassed by Regis Le Bris on the touchline this afternoon, as the Sunderland boss completely changed the game with his substitutions.

How do you even sum that up? 😡

Toffees fans have urged the club to replace Moyes with Andoni Iraola, who is leaving Bournemouth at the end of the season.

Everton CEO Angus Kinnear has come out this week and backed his manager, but the Friedkin Group should still seriously consider moving him on due to this truly damning statistic.

Everton had their biggest ever net spend last summer and have improved by one point

When Moyes came in midway through last season, Everton were in a relegation battle, and he did immensely well to steer the club well away from danger.

The Toffees ended the campaign on 48 points, as seen below, and this year there’s been a rhetoric that things have massively improved.

But, that quite simply isn’t the case at all, as Moyes’ side have improved their points tally by just one point going into the final game of the season.

The only difference this year is that the fight for Europe has been significantly weaker than ever before, with seventh place only on 53 points as it stands.

Even then, Everton have failed to capitalise, and it’s even more disappointing when you consider how much cash Moyes spent last summer.

The Scotsman was actually given the club’s biggest ever transfer budget, with a record-breaking net spend of £97m (based on initial fees).

So, when you factor that in, you’d have to say that Moyes has failed to take this team forward.

What would you say to Angus Kinnear after THAT loss to Sunderland? 😤

Something has to change… 😭

Many of the previous managers never had the luxury of bringing in 10 new signings, and many of them haven’t even played.

The treatment of £40m summer signing Tyler Dibling has been truly baffling, as the talented winger has started just four Premier League games all season.

With all that said, perhaps there is an argument for Moyes to be moved on this summer for a more progressive manager who will bed in new recruits and take the handbrake off.
