Everton striker Beto will have been left reeling on the bench as he watched his hard work undone at Selhurst Park.

David Moyes saw his side give up the lead twice against Crystal Palace in what could prove a crushing blow for Everton’s hopes of Europe.

The 28-year-old striker retained his spot in the starting XI, but was withdrawn after 70 minutes for Thierno Barry.

When departing the pitch, Beto’s message to his teammates to focus was clearly lost on the Everton players.

What message Beto sent to his Everton teammates vs Crystal Palace

Beto has admitted life at Everton has been tough mentally for him, with the striker having recently shown significant improvements in front of goal.

Having scored his ninth goal of the season, the 28-year-old was spotted telling his teammates to focus whilst he departed the pitch for Barry.

No win in any of Everton’s last five games… what would you say to David Moyes? 🫣

Everton have conceded late on in recent weeks and Beto clearly wanted his teammates to see out their lead, which his goal had provided.

Just seven minutes after Moyes removed Beto, Palace found an equaliser through Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Replacing Beto with Thierno Barry did not help Everton

Barry had a huge impact on Monday night, with two goals in just 26 minutes against Manchester City.

However, the 23-year-old was unable to have the same impact on Sunday against the Eagles.

It could even be argued that Everton lost Beto’s presence up front, as the goalscorer’s physicality and work rate were not matched by Barry.

After being brought on, Barry was only able to win 6 of his 11 aerial duels attempted.

Moyes was naturally going to bring Barry on following his impressive display earlier in the week, but Beto did not deserve to be withdrawn.
