Everton will not take to the pitch again until next weekend with the Toffees enjoying the latest international window.

After a shaky start to the season, it seems as if Everton have gotten themselves back on track with five points from their last three games.

The Toffees have been able to pull themselves out of the relegation zone with those points but they remain in danger of another testing season if they fail to show any consistency.

Sean Dyche has come under pressure from some Everton fans over the opening months of the new season.

It seems as if he is finally getting through to his players at Goodison Park but there is one player who has not enjoyed his time away on international duty.

What Gary Lineker said about Jordan Pickford’s England display

A number of players have departed Merseyside this week for their international duties with Jordan Pickford perhaps the biggest name.

The Three Lions are still playing under interim manager – and former Everton man – Lee Carsley following Gareth Southgate’s exit.

But it was not a night to remember for England on Thursday evening after losing 2-1 at Wembley Stadium to Greece.

Speaking in the wake of the game, Micah Richards and Gary Lineker were both left unimpressed by Pickford’s display in the capital.

“Let’s be honest, Pickford, I love Pickford, but at the back…” Richards said on the Rest is Football podcast.

“He had an awful game,” Lineker replied.

“When the ball was coming back to him, he was like a nervous wreck,” Richards responded.

“That set the tone, didn’t it, those mistakes in the first few minutes, set the tone, didn’t it?” Alan Shearer even added.

England fans in agreement over Jordan Pickford

Clearly, it was not just the three BBC presenters who were left unconvinced by Pickford between the sticks on Thursday night.

A number of England fans also shared their concerns about Pickford’s display against Greece as the Three Lions gave up an unexpected defeat.

Behind Pickford, Carsley has the likes of Newcastle United’s Nick Pope and Crystal Palace’s Dean Henderson to choose from.

But Pickford should have plenty of credit in the bank following his impressive spell as England’s number one with a game against Finland coming up on Sunday.
