Everton are believed to remain concerned over a potential second FFP punishment which could be heading their way.

Earlier this season Everton were hit with an unprecedented punishment as the Premier League deducted 10-points which dropped the Toffees into the relegation zone at the time.

Following this, Everton enjoyed a strong run of form during early December which led to four straight wins – beating Chelsea and Newcastle United along with Nottingham Forest and Burnley.

Despite already being hit with punishment this campaign, Everton could also be further sanctions if they’re found to have breached the Profit and Sustainability rules for the last financial year.

Despite financial expert Kieran Maguire expressing his belief that Everton should be fine and avoid punishment, the concern is there.

Everton’s stance on potential FFP issues

According to The Telegraph, Everton are locked in an intense battle to overturn the 10-point deduction from earlier this season.

“Sources close to Everton, already fighting to overturn a 10-point deduction,” the report explains.

It is then continued to say that Everton. “also maintain privately that they believe the Merseyside club are within this year’s limits.”

This belief is in line with what The Esk reported last week that Everton should be fine and avoid a fine this year.

Lastly, there was a small update on Everton’s takeover situation.

“The club is also still waiting to find out whether its proposed takeover by 777 Partners is to get the green light.”

The 777 takeover has felt like it’s dragged on for the longest time and the hope is that finalisation could bring a financial boost which could see transfer business done in 2024.

Everton must remain financially vigilant

Despite the woes of money for Everton, it’s thought this is now beginning to ease. However, in order to avoid falling back into the problem, Everton are remaining cautious and loans are therefore being viewed as the move for this window.

One loan tipped as potentially on the cards is Hannibal Mejbri who could be joining from Manchester United.

Outside of incomings, there is also the potential that Everton could get a boost through sales with Amadou Onana believed to be a potential signing for Arsenal.

But the good news is that it seems Everton won’t be dealt any huge blows punishment-wise anytime soon.
