Dominic Calvert-Lewin hasn’t been at his best in the current campaign, so the Everton coaches have resorted to a new trick in an attempt to get him geed up.
Everton are in desperate need of a prolific number 9, which is exactly how you would have described Dominic Calvert-Lewin a season or two ago.
The Toffees had to rely on Dwight McNeil to save the day last time out, as his brace secured the first three points of Everton’s Premier League campaign.
Interestingly, McNeil did state recently that he’s trying to build a better relationship with Dominic Calvert-Lewin in his new position in the number 10 role.
There’s no better time for Calvert-Lewin to prove himself than against a Newcastle United side who are interested in signing him in the January transfer window.
He shouldn’t need any extra motivation, which is exactly what he’s been given in recent times.

Everton’s plan to get Dominic Calvert-Lewin geed up
The Friedkin Group have already been urged to get Dominic Calvert-Lewin signed up to a new deal, but his performances haven’t really warranted that.
Sadly, the Englishman looks like he could run his contract down, which has forced Everton into potentially selling him for a cut-price deal in January.
Everton have been trying everything they can to improve his form.
According to i News, Everton coaches have been reminding him of their belief that of those in England contention only Kane has more ability than him.
Some motivation for a struggling Calvert-Lewin
There’s no doubting that Dominic Calvert-Lewin has plenty of talent and could easily find himself in the England squad with a rich vein of form.
But, to say he’s behind only Harry Kane in ability isn’t quite right at this moment in time, but if it works like it did against Aston Villa then it’s definitely worth trying.
Alan Shearer recently offered Calvert-Lewin some advice to take a leaf out of Erling Haaland’s book with how he uses his body in certain situations.
At the end of the day it’s up to the player to work his socks off to get back to where he wants to be, regardless of whether he sees himself at Everton in the long run.
