Everton’s 2024/25 campaign is now up and running but it could not have gotten off to much worse of a start.
Losing 3-0 on the opening day to Brighton & Hove Albion is certainly not what Sean Dyche would have hoped for.
But there are still some reasons to be positive with the club potentially in the process of being taken off the hands of Farhad Moshiri.
American billionaire John Textor is now in exclusive talks with Everton over the potential takeover on Merseyside.
And the potential new owner at Everton has now spoken out about his shares in Premier League side Crystal Palace which will need to be sold to take the reins at Goodison.

What John Textor said about interest in Everton
It has certainly been a testing process in trying to find a new owner for Everton but there have been positive signs of late.
Despite seeing 777 Partners and The Friedkin Group also enter exclusivity periods to secure their proposed takeovers, it looks like Textor is really pushing to get this done.
However, he does have a huge hurdle to overcome in the process as he needs to pull out completely of any involvement with Crystal Palace.

Speaking on the matter, Textor has now released a lengthy statement on his desire to takeover at Everton with his shares in Palace now available for someone to acquire.
“In light of recent reports, which we believe may be well intended, but are still inaccurate or imprecise, we feel compelled to clarify our intentions as current owners of Crystal Palace Football Club, for the benefit of its community, and for the benefit of the Everton community which may be affected by these reports,” said Textor.
“We can confirm that we are interested in selling our interest in Crystal Palace, largely so that we can pursue a relationship with the Everton club and community.
“Several months ago, we hired Raine Group to begin the process of evaluating alternatives, as we were considering two very different alternatives, at that time, either a purchase of a majority interest in Palace or an outright sale.”
John Textor is now pushing for Everton takeover
The signs are positive for Everton with the American now clearly sharing he is in the process of trying to offload those shares in Palace.
But, it has to be said, how long that will take may be a real concern to the fans at Everton with Textor having a heft 45% stake in the Premier League side.
Ideally, Everton could do with a potential new owner who is ready to just take over at the club with immediate effect.
However, it seems with Textor this is not the case and it is going to take even more patience to see a deal potentially forced over the line.
