Everton will be hoping the signing of Lyon attacker Ernest Nuamah will bring a breath of fresh air to Goodison Park.
Everton are confident of signing Nuamah as it would be the Toffees’ first signing of the January transfer window.
It seems to be progressing well and David Moyes may get his wish of a new attacker.
The 21-year-old has captured the attention of Everton after his performances in Ligue 1 as The Friedkin Group hopes to inject some new life into the Toffees’ dire frontline.
However, Nuamah may not be what the Everton fans think after recent claims.

Everton target Ernest Nuamah has been ‘underwhelming’
David Moyes wants Charlie Adam on the Everton team as he could help coach Everton’s success from set-pieces with Moyes desperate for any type of goal.
Nuamah is hoping to provide that threat Everton are lacking with lightning speed and quick creativity to help the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
However, France-based Journalist, Matt Spiro, doesn’t think Nuamah is the key to Moyes’ success at keeping Everton up this season after his stint with Lyon.
Speaking on X (formerly Twitter), Piro stated: “Everton and Lyon agree €20m fee for Ernest Nuamah who has been so underwhelming in Ligue 1 it’s hard to imagine him breathing new life into #Everton’s season.
“The Ghanaian winger is quick and direct, the potential is there, but Lyon haven’t managed to unlock that.”

Nuamah has been individualistic which could raise Everton concern
Everton will be hoping for players who want to be a part of the team, with Everton’s current status in the Premier League needing togetherness in Moyes’ setup.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 15 | 21 | 5 | 9 | 7 | 23 | 28 | -5 | 24 | |
| 16 | 20 | 3 | 8 | 9 | 15 | 26 | -11 | 17 | |
| 17 | 21 | 4 | 4 | 13 | 31 | 48 | -17 | 16 |
Moyes is embarrassed by Everton’s decline and wants to put an end to the Toffees relegation scrapping every season.
Judging by Nuamah’s ‘underwhelming’ claim, is this going to end up as another poor signing at Goodison Park.
To add insult to injury, Lyon boss Pierre Sage has deemed Nuamah selfish in the past.
Speaking in his post-match interview in October after Lyon’s 4-1 win against Rangers in the Europa League, Sage said: “I expected a little more from Nuamah because I think there was a difference between his game and his teammates. He went looking for things a little more himself than for the team.”
Concerning revelations for Everton fans, as Moyes will have to try and work his magic with Nuamah.
