Everton need at least one new striker this season – and Liam Delap could be a potential incoming for the Toffees this summer.

Everton were recently linked with Delap, who is almost certain to leave Ipswich Town following their relegation from the Premier League.

As a result of Ipswich going down, a £30 million release clause is now in effect for Delap.

In what is no surprise, several clubs are interested in triggering this clause, and bagging themselves one of the best young English strikers in the country.

Chelsea and Manchester United have had a lot of mentions for Delap recently.

But Everton are keen as well – and there is now word on when Liam Delap is likely to decide his next club.

2024/25 has been a successful season for Delap on a personal note.

His team may have struggled as a collective, but the former Manchester City youngster has scored 12 goals in 36 appearances.

He has impressed people with his physicality and finishing, and it’s little wonder he is so coveted now.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has brought an update on Delap today, and has suggested when the striker could actually make a decision on his future.

With the England U21s in action at the European Championships this summer, Jacobs says Delap is ‘likely ‘expected’ to sort his future out before the tournament in Slovakia commences on June 11.

He said: “Still likely to be a quick transfer, as all suitors prepared to trigger the clause, and Delap expected to pick his next club before heading off to the Under-21 Championship. Unclear if Chelsea win the race whether Delap will instead play in the Club World Cup.”

Everton remain outsiders for Delap, but deal not impossible

The competition for Delap is understandably very strong given his exploits this term in just his first proper season in the Premier League.

Everton are undoubtedly an outside bet for the player.

But The Friedkin Group are looking to make a statement in their first summer window, and can do just that for Everton by beating off the competition and signing Delap.

Everton can’t offer European football. But they can offer a world-class new stadium, and regular minutes which is surely a big factor for the 22-year-old.

Everton are a club on the up now, and hopefully, TFG and David Moyes can sell the project to Delap and his representatives and pull off a shock this summer.
