Everton have been on the end of some seriously controversial refereeing decisions this season.

David Moyes has not shied away from venting his frustrations with the officials, as Everton have now seen their hopes of Europe take a major dent.

There are a number of reasons behind Everton’s recent poor form, but refereeing controversy has certainly played its part.

With two games remaining, Everton could have found themselves two places better off had there been no VAR in the Premier League.

Everton would be eighth in the Premier League without VAR

Ironically, the Premier League KMI panel believe Everton have benefitted from incorrect decisions being made by their officials this season.

Everton are currently sitting in 10th spot of the Premier League table on 49 points, with VAR holding the Blues back in their race for Europe.

The Daily Mail (via AceOdds) have shared the alternative Premier League table showing where clubs would be if VAR was not in use.

No win in any of Everton’s last five games… what would you say to David Moyes? 🫣

As you can see, Everton would be two places and two points better off, without VAR casting its eye over decisions in the Premier League.

Moyes was furious with the PGMOL following their response recently after Mateus Fernandes’ handball against the Blues.

Since the game at the London Stadium, the KMI panel have admitted that the decision made on the day was incorrect.

It is just another example of how Everton have found themselves on the end of result-altering refereeing decisions.

This season, more than any other, has felt as if decisions made by the officials have had a massive impact on the viewing experience of the Premier League.

You only have to go back to Monday evening, when Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United’s clash was covered in controversial decisions.

Everton have not helped themselves in recent weeks, but it is clear that they have been swimming against the tide when it comes to the officials.
