Why a furious Jordan Pickford was seen ‘berating’ some of his Everton teammates vs Bournemouth

It was another poor showing from Everton on Saturday as they suffered their second consecutive defeat on the road against Bournemouth.

Sean Dyche’s side left a lot to be desired against the Cherries as they failed to really provide the hosts with any real issues.

That has become somewhat of a theme this season for Everton as they have struggled to find the back of the net.

Bournemouth vs Everton was threatened by the cold weather and it seems as if the Toffees were unable to warm up to the challenge of Andoni Iraola’s side.

As they once again find themselves in the mix of the relegation battle, Dyche may have his goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford, to thank for maintaining such a solid defensive record.

But there was something which happened down on the south coast which did not impress the England number one.

Jordan Pickford left furious with Everton teammates

Ahead of the game, Iraola hailed Everton’s defensive record as he expected a tough challenge against the Toffees.

If nothing else, Dyche has been able to assert a strong defensive front at Goodison Park, but they may have one man to thank for that.

Speaking on BBC Sport’s Final Score, former Premier League defender Martin Keown spotted Pickford shouting at his defence.

“Jordan Pickford is at his angry best. He is berating his defence at every opportunity. It is a good job that he is there because he’s made five or six good saves now,” he said.

“The defence need to get up quicker because they are just allowing shots to be taken.”

On Boxing Day, Pickford brilliantly put off Erling Haaland and saved his penalty as Everton picked up a point.

The 30-year-old has grown a reputation for being a bit of a joker at times but this goes to show just how much of a leader he is to the Everton defence.

Jordan Pickford is keeping Everton in the Premier League

Pickford has been praised by Michael Owen as the former Liverpool striker placed him in his Team of the Season at the midway point.

To receive such high praise in a side which is struggling at the foot end of the table takes some doing.

There was very little that Pickford could have done to prevent David Brooks’ fine finish in what was a busy afternoon for the goalkeeper.

Gary Lineker thinks Pickford is massively underrated and it is displays like the one at the Vitality Stadium which go to show he is absolutely correct.
