Everton left-back Adam Aznou could actually help David Moyes to make his ninth signing of the summer transfer window.

Tyler Dibling is set to become Everton’s eighth signing of the summer as he closes in on a £42m transfer from Southampton.

Dibling’s move would take the Toffees’ spending up to £117m, however, David Moyes and the Friedkin Group aren’t done there.

Everton are still keen to sign a right-back before the window slams shut on September 1st, and here’s why Adam Aznou could actually help to make that materialise.

Why Adam Aznou could help Everton’s transfer business

It emerged over the weekend that Everton are exploring a deal to sign Hector Fort on a season-long loan from European giants Barcelona.

Fort, who recently celebrated his 19th birthday, is also admired by Moyes’ former club West Ham United, who are posing competition.

Interestingly, Fort is actually the former teammate of Aznou, so the Everton left-back could be very useful in negotiations.

The teenagers grew up together in Barca’s La Masia academy and were spotted embracing one another during a Champions League game last season.

That surely makes the Toffees favourites ahead of West Ham, with Aznou likely to convince Fort to join him on Merseyside.

Hector Fort’s impressive statistics

Fort, who has already accumulated 30 senior appearances for Barcelona, has very impressive underlying data.

According to FBref data, the Everton target ranks in the top two per cent in Europe for accurate passes per 90 compared to his positional peers.

He also sits in the top seven per cent for blocks, evincing that he conducts his defensive duties sufficiently, too.

The data suggests Fort is of a very similar profile to Chelsea’s Malo Gusto, which is an encouraging comparison.

Indeed, like Aznou, if he were to join the Toffees, Moyes may give him a period of adaptation before throwing him in.
