Everton’s search for a new right-back is still on, and West Ham United are now demanding more money for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

According to The Athletic, the Hammers are now looking to sell for a fee in the region of £25 million.

How excited are you by Everton’s signing of Tyrique George on a permanent deal? Can he really kick on now after his loan?

The deal is now official, with the Toffees paying an initial £18m, with £6m to come in potential add-ons… ✅

Everton’s interest in Wan-Bissaka was first reported last month, and it was initially stated that he could be signed for about £10 million following West Ham’s relegation.

But now, that asking price has been increased drastically, potentially following the full-back’s stint at the World Cup with DR Congo.

And this development should now encourage Everton to look at other targets.

Wan-Bissaka definitely impressed at the World Cup, and plenty of teams will be looking at him this summer.

DR Congo came so close to reaching the last 16 when they gave England a scare, and Wan-Bissaka’s performance at right-back was absolutely solid.

But the price now increasing to £25 million really ought to steer Everton away.

You can’t blame West Ham for trying to capitalise, but it should certainly encourage Everton to look at alternatives.

Wan-Bissaka turns 29 in a few months, and £25 million is an awful lot of money to pay for a full-back who did not have a particularly great season in 2025/26, which ended in relegation for the Hammers.

At the moment, Everton are lacking end product in both full-back positions.

Vitalii Mykolenko looks set to be a regular starter again next season after he signed a contract extension, but a return of just four goals and four assists in 158 games for Everton is very uninspiring.

There is little evidence to suggest things will change in 2026/27, so Everton could do with decent attacking contributions coming from the right side to compensate.

Like Mykolenko, Wan-Bissaka is not a player known for his final third contributions. He has scored just two goals and made eight assists in 65 appearances for West Ham. For Manchester United, he scored two and made just 13 assists in 190 appearances.

Obviously, he is Premier League-proven, which is good.

But to spend £25 million on a 28-year-old relegated full-back who doesn’t offer much going forward feels like a mistake waiting to happen. There also wouldn’t be much more growth for Wan-Bissaka, if any at all, being the age he is.
