Everton are in the market for a new right-back – and Aaron Wan-Bissaka is on the club’s radar.
The Toffees have several positions on the agenda this summer, but right-back is potentially at the very top of the list.
It has been a problem position for a while now.
Which Everton player are you expecting to have the best World Cup? 🏆
Jake O’Brien has been the most commonly used player there since David Moyes came back, but looked vulnerable towards the end of the season and we know he’s a natural centre-back.
Seamus Coleman has left the club, and it’s expected Nathan Patterson will be sold.
A number of names have been linked during this calendar year, and one of the more recent targets is Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
And the full-back gave a rather solid performance last night on his World Cup debut.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka impresses for DR Congo vs Portugal
Before England’s thrilling 4-2 victory over Croatia last night, DR Congo faced Portugal in Houston.
Portugal were heavy favourites, but produced a disappointing performance to draw 1-1 with the African nation.
DR Congo were fully worth their point, and will take great encouragement from their performance and now have one eye on getting out of Group K.

Key to DR Congo getting a point last night was their defence – and Wan-Bissaka certainly played his part.
The West Ham United full-back was solid if unspectacular, and as per Sofascore, had a whopping 10 defensive actions. He also produced a last-man tackle.
He also wasn’t too shabby on the ball, completing 17/19 (89%) passes. He also had the second-highest number of touches for DR Congo with 43 – just one behind Chancel Mbemba.
It was essentially a fairly typical performance from Wan-Bissaka, who has established a reputation for being strong defensively. But that it was his World Cup debut, against a side boasting some top players, elevates it further.
Wan-Bissaka will have impressed David Moyes
Watching how he dealt with Portugal’s threats, it was hard not to imagine Moyes admiring the performance.
The Scot likes to build teams based on a solid defence, and Wan-Bissaka is certainly a difficult player to get past and is capable of locking down the right side.

It has been little surprise to read reports that Moyes wants to bring him to Hill Dickinson Stadium.
It will be interesting to see how he fares in the next two games for DR Congo. Potentially, it may actually not help Everton’s cause if he continues to impress due to the shop window effect.
