Everton are battling some fellow Premier League sides for a signing.
West Ham like Brooke Norton-Cuffy as Everton also attempt to sign the England U21 international from Genoa.
Ben Jacobs has now provided an update on the former Arsenal defender, suggesting why Newcastle could ultimately win the race for the 22-year-old this winter.
There are so many to choose from! 🫣
Jean-Philippe Gbamin is surely in your top three… 😫
Return of Seamus Coleman could see Newcastle beat Everton to Brooke Norton-Cuffy
The respected journalist has now spoken to Give Me Sport about the Genoa No.15 on YouTube – sharing why Newcastle may actually be in pole position for his signature.
Jacobs said: “My understanding is he’s available for about €20m (£17m). Everton, Newcastle, West Ham, three Premier League clubs, but don’t discount Napoli and Juventus as well.
“I think for Everton, now Seamus Coleman is back, there’s a bit less urgency. West Ham, they’ve got two senior full-backs over on that right-hand side, but they’re looking for somebody a little bit younger, even though I think at the moment Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Kyle Walker-Peters, two excellent options for them, but they have to think long-term as well.
“Newcastle have got Tino Livramento out, so naturally they’re exploring whether or not they can add another right-sided full-back to kind of cover that vacuum until he returns.”
Having already spent over £50m this month, we doubt West Ham will spend £17m on Norton-Cuffy with Wan-Bissaka and Walker-Peters already in east London, while Jacobs claims Everton are now showing less urgency in the hunt for a new right-back as Coleman nears a return.
Therefore, it seems Newcastle are favourites for the 22-year-old with Livramento out for roughly two months, a setback which has seen central midfielder Lewis Miley forced to cover in defence for Eddie Howe.
Uncertain Beto future could see Everton sign a different right-back regardless of Seamus Coleman return in Emil Holm
Jacobs claims Everton are now showing less urgency in the hunt for a new right-back due to Coleman, but an opportunity may still present itself in that department thanks to Beto.
Bologna want Beto, and have a right-back of interest to Everton in Emil Holm.
David Moyes has clearly opted to make Thierno Barry his main man in recent weeks ahead of the Guinea-Bissau international, and has been rewarded with four goals in five Premier League outings from the Frenchman, so the Glaswegian would surely welcome a departure for the Everton No.9 in the coming days.
Finish this sentence: At the end of the window, Beto will be playing for… 🤔
What would YOU do if you were calling the shots?
There have already been rumours in Italy suggesting that The Friedkin Group are looking to facilitate a swap deal involving Beto and Holm, which would be a way for Everton to get a new right-back without needing to show much urgency at all.
