Gary Lineker’s wage was recently revealed at the BBC and it turns out he earns more than one Everton star in particular.

Everton are set for new ownership as the Friedkin Group’s takeover bid goes from strength to strength, which could in itself bring about a few new deals for players.

One player whose future will be a hot topic at Everton once the takeover is completed is Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is out of contract in the summer.

It has been claimed that talks have been ongoing over a new deal for Calvert-Lewin, but there are also contrasting reports that suggest he’s assessing other options.

However, he’s not the only player who may be in search of a new deal, as one key member at Everton is currently on less than Gary Lineker.

Gary Lineker’s BBC earnings revealed

Gary Lineker is possibly the most well-known pundit in the English football scene.

Famously known for hosting the BBC’s Match of the Day, Lineker has enjoyed many successful years on the show but is set to hang up his microphone.

Interestingly, it’s been claimed (as per BBC) that Lineker earns more than £1.3 million a year.

It’s a pretty large chunk of money for a pundit.

Dwight McNeil currently earns less than Gary Lineker after his wage reveal

Dwight McNeil has been a key member of Sean Dyche‘s sides in numerous years at Burnley, and nothing has changed since his move to Everton.

He’s already made 92 appearances for the Toffees, scoring 14 goals and assisting 13.

This season he has started 91% of games in the Premier League and has even worked his way into a new position in the number 10 role.

Darren Bent even said McNeil would be in the England fold if he slightly improved his contributions.

The Everton star is reportedly on just £1.3 million a year, which equals to £25k per week (Capology).

When you consider his importance and how he’s on less than Asmir Begovic who’s merely a back-up option this season, being on less than Lineker makes it look even worse.
