The Friedkin Group are on the verge of taking over Everton and the deal is expected to be completed before the new year.

Everton have been in financial trouble over the last couple of years and that’s seen them plummet in the league table.

Sean Dyche has managed to steer them clear of relegation in his first two seasons at the club but they’re once again set to be involved in another fight to survive.

The Friedkin Group could give the club a much-needed cash injection in the January transfer window to bring in further reinforcements.

Though, at the moment, the multi-club ownership are focused on appointing a new manager at Roma and with that said, it’s just come to light that they’re close to appointing a Premier League-winning boss.

Friedkin Group close to appointing Claudio Ranieri at Roma

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Friedkin Group have met in London with former Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri.

Ranieri, who won the Premier League title in 2016, is expected to be appointed as Roma’s new head coach following the sacking of Ivan Juric.

An announcement could be made on Wednesday (13th November) barring any sensational twists in the meeting.

Roma have been linked to Graham Potter and Maurizio Sarri over the last few weeks, both of whom are reported candidates to replace Dyche.

So, from an Everton perspective, the decision to appoint Ranieri is surely a good one, as their manager targets remain available.

Friedkin Group set to stick with Sean Dyche

Whilst the Friedkin Group have been pretty impatient with managers in Rome, they’re expected to stick with Dyche until the end of the season.

BBC reporter Phil McNulty believes Everton won’t sack Dyche unless things become really dire, so the search for his long-term successor will likely begin next summer.

Though, if a change is needed this term, it’s understood David Moyes is being eyed as his replacement until the end of the season.

Many Everton fans have called for Brentford’s Thomas Frank to be appointed.
