Everton fans are now counting down the days until they can watch Jack Grealish in action.

Tuesday marked a memorable day on Merseyside as Everton announced the season-long loan signing of Grealish from Manchester City.

After signing, Grealish admitted he spoke to Wayne Rooney about joining Everton just a matter of days ago.

David Moyes appears to be getting a hungry Grealish, who is ready to get his career back on track after a couple of frustrating seasons.

Paul Merson was stunned at Grealish signing for Everton, as the Sky Sports pundit feels the Blues are getting a top quality player.

However, the sentiment was not shared with Simon Jordan, who has now been slammed by former Everton manager Sam Allardyce.

Sam Allardyce slams Simon Jordan’s Jack Grealish to Everton rant

Jordan recently questioned Moyes’ handling of Rooney during his early days on Merseyside, before moving to Manchester United.

The TalkSPORT pundit has now taken aim at Grealish’s move to Merseyside, suggesting he is not a player suited to Moyes’ style of management.

Speaking on the station, Allardyce has laughed off Jordan’s suggestions with Everton fans told to get excited.

“Simon was saying on radio that he shouldn’t be going to Everton because Moyes doesn’t like flair players. Simon, you’re so wrong it’s unbelievable!” said Allardyce.

“You don’t know Moysey like I do. Everton did great when he took over. Your opinion is sometimes rather harsh and unfair, mate. But Moyes will do a great job with Jack, and he’ll flourish at Everton.

“And a bit of credit, if the news is right, he’s dropped his wages to join Everton.”

Grealish’s brother expects him to play as the number 10 in Moyes’ system at Everton, with his first opportunity coming up on Monday night.

The times are changing for Everton, and the addition of Grealish is a real statement of intent from the Friedkins.

Grealish is exactly what Everton needed this summer

The Friedkins wanted a big-name signing, and they have certainly got that in the 29-year-old.

But they have also got a player who is ready to prove his worth again following some struggles at the Etihad Stadium.

Time will tell whether it turns out to be a successful move, but the forward has done what he could to make the move happen.

Jordan Pickford will help Grealish settle in on Merseyside, but he will also be able to remain at his current address having only joined from Manchester.

This has the recipe to be an exciting addition on Merseyside, and Grealish’s leap of faith could even help Everton sign other players this summer.
