Everton are taking on Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby on Wednesday in the rescheduled fixture.

The Toffees are looking to bounce back after losing to Bournemouth in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Everton lost 2-0 to the Cherries, with two James Tarkowski errors leading to the goals.

Everton were really poor in the first-half and that ultimately proved costly.

There was improvement in the second-half, and Everton fans really enjoyed Carlos Alcaraz’s debut against Bournemouth, but the damage had been done.

Attention has already now turned to the game with Liverpool on Wednesday.

Robbie Fowler has warned Everton that Liverpool’s defeat to Plymouth may actually help the Reds, and David Moyes certainly faces his biggest test yet since returning.

Everton will play Liverpool on Wednesday and it will be the final Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park.

The fixture is one of the biggest in English football, but Wednesday’s game will be extra special and the atmosphere is bound to be electric.

Both sides are coming into the game on the back of defeats.

And neither outfit will want to lose the final version of this fixture.

Everton ran out 2-0 winners the last time the teams met back in April 2024, which ended a five-game winless run – and Moyes will be gunning for three points.

Coming into the game having lost against Bournemouth isn’t too ideal, but midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure has sent out the right message ahead for the Merseyside Derby.

Sending a seven-word message to fans on X, he wrote: “Regroup and full focus for the Derby.”

David Moyes has fresh injury concerns ahead of Everton vs Liverpool

Moyes will be determined to get one over on Liverpool in the final Merseyside Derby match at Goodison Park – but the Everton manager has a few injury concerns heading into the game.

Moyes has confirmed Nathan Patterson has suffered a hamstring injury and won’t play, with the full-back missing the matchday squad for Bournemouth on Saturday.

Vitaliy Mykolenko is also a doubt having felt his calf ahead of Bournemouth and Moyes didn’t want to risk the Ukraine international.

The Scot will also not have the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Armando Broja, Orel Mangala and Seamus Coleman.
