It was a disappointing afternoon for Everton who tasted FA Cup defeat at Goodison Park to Bournemouth.
David Moyes will not have been impressed with what he saw from his side.
The second half did provide a little more for the home fans to cheer, but it was a dismal display on the whole from Everton.
John Brooks and his officials may have made an error for Bournemouth’s penalty with Antoine Semenyo potentially offside in the build-up.
Everton now only have the Premier League to focus on in the remaining months of the 2024/25 campaign.
But there was one positive in January signing Carlos Alcaraz making his debut from the bench in the second half.

Everton fans delighted with Carlos Alcaraz’s debut
Moyes has said Alcaraz needs to prove his worth after only signing on an initial loan deal in the winter window.
But the Argentine midfielder has certainly made a positive start to life on Merseyside with his showing off the bench.
And it seemed a lot of Everton fans were in agreement with plenty of them taking to social media to share their thoughts.
Taking to X, @JPmccr was blown away by Alcaraz’s cameo: ‘Charly Alcaraz making his presence felt immediately!’ And @rossEFC95 also added: ‘Looks quality Alcaraz, gonna be a player for us him’.
Alcaraz hit the post from a free-kick and @Lozefc said: ‘Wow Alcaraz. What a strike, so unlucky.’ Whilst @evertonfinest also praised his effort: ‘Alcaraz off the post! He’s looking good here’.
With such a positive influence on the game, @louiek1878_ also said: ‘Alcaraz will be a game changer yeno’. And @sophefc2023 is also clearly expecting big things from the midfielder: ‘Alcaraz is a big positive though’.

Carlos Alcaraz impressed for Everton vs Bournemouth
The 22-year-old only arrived on Merseyside last weekend with his signing not announced until the early hours of Tuesday morning.
But Alcaraz has been involved in Everton training during the week.
And after coming on in the second half, the midfielder put on a real showing for the fans at Goodison Park.
- 25 minutes played
- 1x hit woodwork
- 2 key passes
- 23 touches
- 93% pass accuracy
- 1/1 ground duels won
It would be a huge ask for Moyes to provide Alcaraz with his first Everton start on Wednesday night against Liverpool, but the early signs are positive.
