Everton could not have asked for a better start against Leicester City after Abdoulaye Doucoure’s instant goal.
In what was pitched as a relegation six-pointer, David Moyes’ side did not waste any time before putting the Foxes to the sword.
Midfielder Doucoure was able to find the back of the net for Everton within the opening 10 seconds of the game at Goodison Park.
Ruud van Nistelrooy hailed the Goodison Park atmosphere ahead of the game and he got to experience it again with Everton stunning his side.
Although Doucoure’s goal was staggeringly quick, it did not take the crown as the Premier League’s fastest-ever goal.
Here is how the 32-year-old’s strike ranks in the Premier League history books.

Abdoulaye Doucoure scores for Everton after 10 seconds
Moyes has shared his concerns about PSR during the week, but any worries off the pitch were swiftly put at ease by his players against Leicester.
Doucoure was able to latch on to a long-kick from goalkeeper Jordan Pickford before firing beyond Mads Hermansen.
The goal came after just 10.18 seconds, which will go down as the fourth-fastest goal in Premier League history.
Everton fans have criticised Doucoure at times this season with a real lack of attacking threat shown from the midfielder.
However, he showed the composure of a clinical striker in front of the Park End Stand and handed Moyes the perfect start on Saturday afternoon.
In 1559 minutes of Premier League football this season, Doucoure has been unable to find the back of the net.
But little time was wasted against Leicester as he finally opened his account for the campaign.
What is the fastest-ever Premier League goal
The honour of scoring the fastest-ever Premier League goal still belongs to Shane Long for his goal against Watford for Southampton.
But Doucoure’s will nestle in at number four in the record books, with the time of 10.18 seconds.
| Player | Fixture (season) | Seconds |
|---|---|---|
| Shane Long | Watford vs Southampton (18/19) | 07.69 |
| Philip Billing | Arsenal vs Bournemouth (22/23) | 09.11 |
| Ledley King | Bradford vs Tottenham (00/01) | 09.82 |
| Abdoulaye Doucoure | Everton vs Leicester | 10.18 |
| Alan Shearer | Newcastle vs Manchester City (02/03) | 10.52 |
| Christian Eriksen | Tottenham vs Manchester United (17/18) | 10.54 |
With Dominic Calvert-Lewin sidelined with a hamstring injury, Moyes needs goals to come from all over the pitch.
And there was no better way for the Toffees to start than for a player to respond with his first goal of the season amid the injury crisis up top.
