Everton’s 2024/25 campaign may now be set to get underway, but there are still two weeks for the Blues to work some magic in the market.

Kevin Thelwell has pulled off some excellent work in the transfer window for Everton so far with four signings through the door.

The early signs are positive with Jake O’Brien impressing on his debut with a goal and the likes of Jesper Lindstrom also setting a good first impression.

How quickly these players will bed into the starting XI will have to be seen but it looks like Sean Dyche has some quality players added to his options.

Although there is time for Everton to add to their squad, it has been reported that they’ve now missed out on a couple of their targets to one of their rivals.

But it seems as if Alan Myers wants to set the record straight after he has heard something completely different on the matter.

Alan Myers shares what he’s heard about Everton’s transfer targets

It has been suggested that Everton were keen to sign Kalvin Phillips this summer, but the midfielder has now joined Ipswich Town.

Everton were also linked with a potential move for Napoli midfielder Jens Cajuste, however, he has also set to make the move to Portman Road this week.

With there still being some time for Everton to move in the market, Myers has shut down a claim on social media that Everton were eyeing certain targets who have moved elsewhere.

Taking to X, Myers claimed two of the players who had been suggested to have been on Everton’s radar were not.

“I know for a fact we haven’t been in for at least two of the players you’re suggesting, I don’t think that’s the case at all tbh,” said Myers.

Although that is a positive that Everton have not been beaten to signings by newly-promoted Ipswich, the Toffees could now do with another addition or two.

Everton could need to sign a new midfielder

Having sold Amadou Onana to Aston Villa for a fee of around £50m, there could well be a major hole in the Everton midfield which needs patching up.

There could well be a replacement already at the club following the signing of Tim Iroegbunam who came from Villa, ironically, earlier in the summer.

Iroegbunam has been mightily impressive for Everton in pre-season but it could be a gamble to pin all hopes on him this season.

Aside from Iroegbunam, an injury or two could certainly expose Everton’s lack of depth in midfield which does suggest at least one more is needed before the deadline.
