Everton recorded a deserved win over Nottingham Forest at the weekend – and one player seriously impressed Alan Shearer.
Everton got back to winning ways in the Premier League, courtesy of an injury-time strike from Abdoulaye Doucoure.
Substitute Dwight McNeil picked the pocket of the normally reliable Murillo, and played Doucoure in who finished with aplomb.
It was a deserved victory, and even Nuno Espirito Santo said Everton were dominant.
And key to the domination was the performance of Idrissa Gana Gueye, who was once again starting in midfield for the Toffees.
It was a display that really impressed Premier League legend Alan Shearer.
Alan Shearer hails Idrissa Gana Gueye after display for Everton against Nottingham Forest

Gueye has been heavily involved for Everton this season, despite being in his mid-thirties.
But there have been no signs for him slowing down, and arguably, Gueye has been among the best Everton players this season.
Gueye was hailed by Everton fans for his display at Forest.
And now Alan Shearer has given him his due credit, selecting the player in his latest Premier League Team of the Week.
He said: “Excellent in everything he did, protecting the back four and giving Everton the platform to go on and beat Nottingham Forest.”
After the win, goalscorer Doucoure also admitted he loved playing with Gueye, which says it all.

Everton rightly set to offer Gueye new contract
Everton fans just aren’t surprised at this point to see Gueye shining in games.
The £2 million signing (BBC Sport) has been so consistent this season, and still looks fit as a fiddle despite his advancing years.
As things currently stand, Gueye’s deal expires in the summer.
But Everton are planning to hand Gueye a new contract, and that will be music to fans’ ears.
Gueye has already spoken of his love for Everton, so realistically we will be seeing him gracing the new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.
Perhaps he may not be a regular next term, with Everton expected to strengthen the squad this summer.
But certainly, if he plays as well as this again in 2025/26, Moyes will have a very hard time leaving him out.
