Seamus Coleman has announced that he will be leaving Everton at the end of the season.

After 17 years at the football club, Seamus Coleman will depart once his contract expires at the end of June.

Everton’s 1878 group have organised a tribute for Coleman on Sunday afternoon, with supporters encouraged to chant his song during the 60th minute against Sunderland.

That said, Toffees CEO Angus Kinnear has written some brilliant words about the 37-year-old in the Official Matchday Programme.

Angus Kinnear gives perfect description of Seamus Coleman’s Everton status

Kinnear has perfectly summed up Coleman’s status at the football club, correctly attributing the word ‘legend’ to the 37-year-old.

“Legend is a term too readily used in modern football, but Seamus Coleman is an individual who is unequivocally deserving of that title,” the Toffees chief stated.

“Today marks the final home matchday of what has been an exceptional 17 years of service to the Club, not just as an outstanding footballer, but as a truly inspirational man.

Sunday marks the final home game of the season for Everton! 😳

“A leader and somebody who personifies everything that makes this club special, Seamus’ association with Everton is now indelible. I speak for everybody here in wishing him and his family the very best for his next chapter, as his playing career in the royal blue jersey draws to a close.

“Seamus also knows there is always a place for him here and he will forever be a part of our Everton family.”

It’ll be interesting to see what Coleman decides to do next, as the club would love him to stay on in a coaching role.

Coleman has admitted he needs a holiday and a bit more time to make a decision, so he could yet continue his playing career elsewhere.

Whatever he does, Toffees supporters will be keeping close tabs and wishing him well.
