Everton seem likely to sign a new striker this summer.

Chelsea No.9 Liam Delap is admired by the Toffees – while Richarlison and Romelu Lukaku are being linked with romantic returns to Everton as well, amid uncertain situations at Tottenham and Napoli respectively.

The shortlist continues, with reports in Spain stating that Atletico Madrid No.9 Alexander Sorloth is another option for Everton – having impressed with 19 goals in all competitions this season.

However, Diego Simeone may refuse to sell the Norway international, as Cadena SER claim there are fears within the Wanda Metropolitano that Julian Alvarez could leave after speaking to Arsenal.

Everton may struggle to sign Alexander Sorloth

Not only could the Argentina international leave for Arsenal, but Atletico Madrid are already losing Antoine Griezmann – who has agreed to join Orlando City at the end of the season.

Now, Cadena SER say Atletico Madrid think Alvarez wants to go, having also spoken to PSG and Barcelona as well as Arsenal.

It means Sorloth – who Atletico Madrid signed from Villarreal for £28m in August 2024 – could soon be the only striker left for Simeone, and if that does turn out to be the case, Everton will surely find it hard to take the Norwegian away.

Fortunately, the shortlist is more of a long-list at the moment as Everton line up their ducks.

Along with Delap, Lukaku, Richarlison and Sorloth, Everton also like Wilson Isidor at Sunderland, and were recently linked with a move for Newcastle striker William Osula.

Should Everton fail to get anywhere in the transfer market, Moyes already has a talented striker right under his nose in the academy in the precocious Braiden Graham – who has netted 21 goals in 31 games so far this term.

Thierno Barry and Beto should therefore be looking to excel in the final three games, or they are both at risk of being replaced this summer.
