Everton look set to miss out on one of their rumoured targets to Besiktas, but there could still be a late twist.

David Moyes is desperate to sign a right-winger this summer, and Southampton’s Tyler Dibling is being heavily linked to Everton.

Takefusa Kubo is also being eyed by Moyes and his recruitment chiefs, although, he seems to be a back-up target.

The same goes for Manchester City’s Jack Grealish, with Everton not expected to pursue a deal until their priority signings are through the door at Finch Farm.

Now, there has been a fresh development on a midfield target as Besiktas have just agreed a deal.

Besiktas agree deal to sign Everton target Wilfred Ndidi

Everton are showing an interest in Wilfred Ndidi this summer transfer window as they look to replace the departed Abdoulaye Doucoure and Orel Mangala.

Ndidi played zero minutes in Leicester City’s friendly against Fiorentina today, so it was evident a move away was imminent.

However, it seems Besiktas are in pole position to land his signature, as they’ve agreed a deal with the Foxes.

All hope isn’t lost for Everton, though, as Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg reports that Ndidi is hesitant about joining the Turkish giants.

So, it appears as though there is an opportunity for Moyes to hijack a deal.

Ndidi would be a great addition

Ndidi was once considered a ‘world class’ midfielder and was being linked with a mega-money move to Manchester United.

Of course, his levels have dropped since then, but he remains one of the best ball winners in the Premier League, statistically.

The Nigerian international has a £9m release clause, so if the Toffees do hijack the deal, it’d be a really smart and shrewd addition.

Ndidi is still only 28-years-old, so he’s got another five-plus years left in his prime and would have sell-on value.

They could certainly do a lot worse.
