Beto has done something for David Moyes at Everton that hasn’t been replicated since Mikel Arteta did it in 2010

Everton took on Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday, with the Toffees letting a two-goal lead slip.

Goals from Abdoulaye Doucoure and Beto put David Moyes’ side in the ascendancy, but a second-half fightback from Ruben Amorim’s Red Devils meant the points were shared at Goodison Park.

But it wasn’t without controversy. An Ashley Young penalty was overturned in the dying embers in what was a very debated VAR decision.

Alas, Everton players still fought valiantly and probably deserved the three points. Portuguese striker Beto was particularly inspired, scoring again under Moyes – which sees him now equal an impressive feat.

Beto equals Mikel Arteta record under David Moyes

Beto became the first Everton player to score in four consecutive Premier League games under Moyes since Mikel Arteta did in 2010 with his goal against Manchester United.

The 27-year-old now has six Premier League goals to his name for the 24/25 season in 18 games. That’s double what he got for the entirety of the 23/24 season in 12 fewer games.

Not only is Beto improving from a numbers perspective, but his all-round game is also vastly improving. Ruben Amorim himself identified Beto was a threat on Saturday.

Beto could have been sold by Everton in January, but Moyes insisted on keeping him around. What an inspired decision, which is paying off as every game goes on for the Toffees.

Moyes deserves immense credit for Beto’s transformation and immediate turnaround. Toffees fans will be excited about what the Portuguese can achieve in the remainder of the season.

Up next for Beto and Everton, a midweek trip to Brentford.
