Everton were held to a score draw by a weakened Crystal Palace side on Sunday.

David Moyes’ side had a great chance to come away from Selhurst Park with three points, as the hosts were in a European semi-final less than 72 hours prior.

But, there were a number of subpar performances across the pitch, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall especially poor.

Everton fans were very critical of Dewsbury-Hall after the game and some think he’s been off the pace for a while.

That said, Beto has lifted the lid on the behind-the-scenes conversation he had with the Toffees playmaker post-match.

Dewsbury-Hall was wasteful in front of goal and some speculated that he was too eager to catch the eye of Thomas Tuchel.

The Everton star was uncharacteristically indecisive in key areas, too, and you could see when he came off how disappointed he was in his performance.

Beto has now revealed that he actually gave Dewsbury-Hall a pep talk after the game.

“I told Kiernan: ‘Why are you upset?’ You can miss a pass, you can miss a run, you can lose a duel,” the towering frontman stated.

No win in any of Everton’s last five games… what would you say to David Moyes? 🫣

“This is what I try to get to all my team-mates because this is football. We can’t just put it in our minds that I need to be perfect.

“No-one will be perfect. The other side have good players too, so I was telling him this.

“A player of his talent doesn’t need to over-think it too much when he does something bad. This is my job, the striker – it’s okay, I’m okay with it.”

Moyes could’ve done a better job of managing the game yesterday, as Dewsbury-Hall really should’ve come off for Carlos Alcaraz a lot earlier.

It’s normal to have off days, and the Scotsman should’ve identified that and protected him by bringing him off.
