Beto makes honest admission fresh after scoring late goal for Everton

Everton relied on an unlikely hero as Beto saved the day for his side, and made an honest admission on his time recently at the club in a post-match interview.

Sean Dyche has stuck by Dominic Calvert-Lewin this season at Everton, despite him only scoring two goals in the opening eight games for the Toffees.

Sadly, Calvert-Lewin struggled for service against Fulham and couldn’t really get into the game, which meant he was substituted off in the 81st minute for Beto.

The Everton boss now has a decision to make ahead of the Southampton game next weekend, with Beto now full of confidence and Calvert-Lewin the complete opposite.

There were emotional scenes after the game as Beto was spotted crying on the pitch, and he gave an equally emotional interview after the game to Sky Sports.

Hopefully this is the start of something special for Beto at Everton after a tough start to life.

He’s played just 43 minutes in the Premier League this season in substitute appearances, which has made it almost impossible for him to get any kind of form.

His cameo against Fulham was a valuable one, picking up a 7.7 rating in just 15 minutes of football. The striker had seven touches, two shots on target, one shot blocked, one goal and won two duels.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Beto shared what he’s been going through and how hard he’s been working behind the scenes.

“It means too much for me because I work hard, and even If I don’t play, I still work hard, I put my head up every week, every day, I want to improve to be better.”

Beto’s situation at Everton

Sean Dyche spoke out prior to the game about how Beto needed to keep working on his game.

Juventus have supposedly registered an interest in signing Beto in January, with a loan deal being eyed to give him more minutes.

However, it’s claimed that a January exit is unlikely for Beto, and that may be even truer after his goal this evening as Everton need one of their strikers to fire.

With Armando Broja and Youssef Chermiti still to come back from injury, it’ll be interesting to see what the striker situation looks like over the next month or so before January.
